PS Soda is delivering mixed cases of its in-house soda across Australia, complete with punchy pairing suggestions for a wide variety of single malts.

Sydney soda bottler PS Soda is putting a special kick in lockdown for World Whisky Day on May 16.

In advance of that international day of tasteful imbibing, it’s delivering bespoke mixed cases of its in-house PS Soda Australia-wide to elevate your home highball game. Each case costs $90 and features an 18-bottle selection of their core range: Smoked Lemonade, Blackstrap Ginger, Wattle Cola, and Myrtle Soda, each one showcasing fresh local ingredients.

The PS Soda team have suggested an ideal whisky pairing for each of the four sodas in their core range, highlighting four different single malts from partners Glenfiddich.

First up is the PS Smoked Lemonade mixed with Glenfiddich 12 Year Old, a smoky and citrus-lifted twist on whisky and lemonade that’s even better with a sprig of burnt rosemary and a wedge of fresh lemon. Named Best Soft Drink at the 2019 Paris Cocktail Spirits Innovation Awards, the Smoked Lemonade is made with lemon and lime juice and zest, rosemary, cane sugar, and Murray River sea salt.

Next is the PS Blackstrap Ginger paired with Glenfiddich 15 Year Old, a rich and spicy showcase of the 15-year-old single malt’s triple-oak ageing. Just top it with a wedge of lime. Blackstrap Ginger is made with Australian ginger, pimento, blackstrap molasses, Murray River salt, and cane sugar.

The humble Scotch and Coke gets a wowing makeover when the PS Wattle Cola collides with Glenfiddich Fire & Cane, a rum-kissed highlight of the Glenfiddich Experimental Series. Perfect with a wedge of orange, this smoky-sweet concoction showcases both the whisky’s depth and warmth, and the soda’s thoughtful range of flavours: wattleseed, cinnamon, star anise, nutmeg, coriander seed, lavender, citrus zests, vanilla, and cola nut.

Matured in former IPA beer casks, the Glenfiddich Experimental Series IPA brings a zesty sensation of citrus and hops to PS Myrtle Soda, a lightly flavoured soda water containing no sugar, no acids and no preservatives. Garnish it with ruby red grapefruit and a sprig of mint.

You don’t need to be a cocktail connoisseur to pull off these highballs: just pour the whisky over a generous amount of ice in a tall glass, then top with the soda and finish it with a fresh garnish.
