Every Friday until October 3, the National Gallery of Victoria transforms into a vibrant after-dark hub for NGV Friday Nights: French Impressionism edition.
Tickets include unlimited evening access to French Impressionism, the 2025 Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition developed with Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts. Featuring more than 100 works by the big guns (Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cassatt, Van Gogh, Manet and more) and presented in a setting inspired by 19th-century salons, the exhibition highlights the bold experimentation and radical beauty of one of art history’s most influential movements.
Alongside the masterpieces, each Friday evening is soundtracked by a curated line-up of local talent across electronic, ambient, jazz, R&B, neo-soul and more. The program includes appearances from high-energy psychedelic jazz purveyors Intermood; R&B and neo-soul powerhouses Bumpy and Wild Gloriosa; and high-energy psychedelic jazz purveyors Intermood. Performances take place each Friday at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm, ensuring the galleries stay alive with music throughout the night.
American classics like beef brisket rolls, loaded dogs and chicken pot pie are available from the Great Hall, while the Gallery Kitchen is serving French fare such as confit chicken salad, sausage cassoulet and cheeseboards. Drinks come courtesy of pop-up bars by Yering Station and Moet & Chandon.
Tickets start at $41 for NGV members and $50 for adults. Door sales are limited, so we recommend booking ahead.
