Mid-Winter Fest 2024 at Willie Smith’s
Last year Willie Smith’s world-famous Apple Shed celebrated its 10th birthday with a weekend of music, dance, entertainment, prizes for the whole family and plenty of cider, of course. This year, the popular Mid-Winter Fest returns to the Apple Shed even bigger for its 11th birthday.
This year’s Mid-Winter Fest promises a firey weekend of music, artists, storytellers and plenty of food and drink. The beloved annual event celebrates all things cider in the foothills of the bountiful Huon Valley – just a 30-minute drive from Hobart. There’ll be bonfires to get warm (or dance) around, live sets from local musicians, and fresh produce picked from the very fields surrounding the festivities.
The festivities kick off on Friday with everyone banging their cups and making a racket for the annual Wassail – an ancient tradition of singing to the apple trees to promote a fruitful harvest for the year ahead. On Saturday the supersized Big Willie sculpture ceremoniously set ablaze as the burning backdrop to all manner of foot-stomping and warm-cider sipping.
The full program will be announced soon with plenty on the line-up for the whole family to enjoy. (Sign up to be the first to know.)
Tickets are on sale now. Day passes start at $40 and weekend passes are available for $149. Under 16s are free.
