A new musical is making its way across Aussie stages. With a career spanning more than 60 years and an unrivalled hair-to-height ratio (she’s reportedly five foot in heels), Dolly Parton’s biggest hits are the perfect soundtrack to this story of grit and kitschy country charm.

A diehard Dolly fan (played by Dash Kruck of Little Shop of Horrors and Jesus Christ Superstar) finds himself down on his luck – thankfully, he’s accompanied by an imaginary, fantasy version of Parton (co-creator Tricia Paoluccio) who shares her wisdom and humour, taking the fan on an invaluable journey of lessons in life, love and overcoming obstacles.

Expect to hear beloved songs like Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, I Will Always Love You and (of course) Here You Come Again. Co-created by Emmy winner Bruce Vilanch Gabriel Barre and Paoluccio, this joyful show has sold out across the US and the UK. Now it’s Australia’s turn.
