A Heaps Gay Valentine at MCA Australia
Love is in the air – and on the dance floor – this Valentine’s Day as Heaps Gay brings its signature energy and queer expression to the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.
Since 2013, Heaps Gay has created safe, vibrant spaces for Sydney’s queer community and its allies, spreading love and joy through larger-than-life parties and art-filled events. A Heaps Gay Valentine continues this tradition, blending creativity, music and connection in this jam-packed celebration.
Expect high-energy performances including comedic storytelling by Ruby Teys, cabaret by Nini Voss and rooftop karaoke hosted by power couple Chakita (DJ Charlie Villas and Nikita Majajas). For something more hands-on, have a go at writing a next-level love letter with award-winning author Dylin Hardcastle, spill your heart in a Crushing Confessions session with singer-songwriter and poet Imbi, and embrace self-love in Tender Core's Play as Pleasure workshop. There’ll also be live music from rising R’n’B talent ANESU, and disco and pop-filled DJ sets by Dyan Tai and Aaron Manhattan.
MCA Australia will keep its exhibitions open late for the occasion, giving visitors the chance to dive into the layered abstractions of Julie Mehretu’s major summer exhibition or catch the final days of Isaac Julien’s critically acclaimed multi-screen installations.
Tickets are on sale now, with free entry for MCA members and Australian students. This is an 18-plus event.
