Garage Sale Trail
The award-winning Garage Sale Trail is back and bigger than ever, with two weekends of simultaneous garage sales nationwide.
Its organisers want to encourage Aussies to think differently about waste – given we produce more than 60 million tonnes of it each year. Last year’s Garage Sale Trail, which included over 10,000 garage sales, helped save more than 1.5 million kilograms of pre-loved items from landfill.
Aside from the sustainability factor, garage sales are a sure-fire way to declutter, give your unwanted stuff a second life and make some cash in the process – to keep or donate to charity.
Ahead of the garage sales, there will be free online masterclasses available on November 6-7 from industry experts (including Aria-winner Ella Hooper, fashion designer Kit Willow and sustainable stylist Nina Gbor) on the circular economy, DIY fixes for your wardrobe, sustainable dressing, practical garage sale tips and more.
And the following two weekends, November 13-14 and 20-21, are all about the main event: garage sales across the country, with more than a million items expected to go up for sale. As with last year’s event, you can shop garage sales IRL or online.
(Note: Physical garage sales are not yet permitted in Victoria, but this may change in coming weeks. Victorians can still join by hosting online garage sales.)
