If you spent the last several months watching in envy as people flitted around Europe in the warm weather, spritz in hand, while you toiled through Aussie winter, now’s the time to start planning your next holiday.

One of the best ways to explore Europe is by taking advantage of the rail network, which connects 33 countries. Catching the train is particularly popular among Australians, with Eurail reporting that 240,000 Aussies travelled on a Eurail Pass in the first six months of 2025. The same data showed we favoured Paris, Amsterdam and a string of Italian and Swiss locations.

Right now, there’s a flash sale with 20 per cent off all Eurail Global passes. On the most comprehensive pass (giving you three months of continuous travel in first class) you’ll save $437. The cheapest pass (which gives you four days of travel within a month) will be discounted to $407.20. There are further discounts available for travellers aged between 12 and 27, as well as those over 60. Kids between four and 11 travel for free with paying adults.

Once you buy a pass, there’s an 11-month window to activate it, so if you’re looking for a white Christmas or a chance to escape winter in 2026, this is your sign.
