Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour

Tue 3rd January, 2023 – Sat 28th January, 2023
Various locations Australia and New Zealand
The music legend will be in the neighbourhood in January 2023 for some NZ shows, so he's decided to add a couple Aussie gigs to his schedule. He's calling them his last.

In January 2018, Elton John announced a three-year final Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour that would see him perform a whooping 300 shows across five continents before concluding in 2021.

He began, including some shows in Australia, but fell sick before he was able to perform in New Zealand. He promised he'd reschedule but then the pandemic hit and he put everything on hold. But those NZ shows are now happening in January 2023 and, while the music legend is in the neighbourhood, he's decide to add four Aussie shows to his tour.

He’s now playing Newcastle for the very first time in his career, on Tuesday January 10 at McDonald Jones Stadium, then Melbourne’s AAMI Park on Friday 13, Sydney's Allianz Stadium on Wednesday 18 and Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Saturday 21.

By the end of this tour, Elton will have played 233 concerts in Australia – the 3rd most for any country outside the UK and US. After the Aussie show's he'll then play those two NZ shows at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium on Friday 27 January and Saturday 28 (tickets are still available).

In 2018 Elton said this tour will be his last. “After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to coming off the road so I can dedicate more time to raising my children.” We'll see – perhaps a couple years has changed his thinking. And we all know what happened with John Farnham.

Either way, Elton's got a huge catalogue of bangers to choose from for the shows. We reckon you're likely to hear classics such as Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer and Crocodile Rock. It might be an effort to make this happen, but we're hoping he'll somehow also be able to pull off his recently hit Cold Heart, featuring Dua Lipa and Pnau.

Tickets are on sale Monday 1 August here.
