Over six weeks in April and May, the beloved op shop is celebrating its 100th birthday with a series of designer clothes drops.

With 650 stores across Australia, pretty much everyone has a local Vinnies. This year, the St Vincent de Paul Society is celebrating 100 years of Vinnies shops – that’s 100 years of affordable, pre-loved items circulating around the country.

In New South Wales, Vinnies is marking the centenary with The Drop – a series of exclusive designer clothes drops across four selected stores in the region (Paddington, Thirroul, Newtown and Brookvale).

Kicking off in April, the first drop is all about cult Australian label One Teaspoon. In the second drop, expect to see designers including Bassike, Boden, Local Supply and Scanlan Theodore. The third drop highlights influencer labels including Kate Waterhouse, Nadia Fairfax, and Paula Joye; while the fourth drop shifts the focus to activewear, with goods from Aim’n, Bondi Active, Nimble and P.E Nation.

In May, the festivities continue with another designer drop, this time featuring Cloth & Co., Lee Mathews and Shona Joy. Then, the final drop is all about swimwear, namely Bond-Eye, Fella Swim and Matteau.

Keen to strike gold? Bookmark the Drop dates below, keep an eye on the Vinnies website and Instagram, and head to your nearest participating store to get first dibs on some of the best opshop finds in the country.

Keep an eye out throughout the year for more 100-year of Vinnies celebrations throughout the state – in particular at the Newtown store, the site of the very first Vinnies Shop in Australia.
