Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair 2026

The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair is turning 20, and the milestone edition is shaping up to be the biggest yet. From August 7 to 9, more than 75 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned art centres will gather at Darwin Convention Centre on Larrakia Country, showcasing work by more than 1800 established and emerging artists from some of Australia’s most remote desert and coastal communities.

Free to attend across three days (following a ticketed opening ceremony on August 6), the fair is a rare chance to meet artists in person, hear the stories behind the works and purchase directly from the source. The fair takes no commission on sales, with 100 per cent of proceeds returning to the art centres, their artists and communities.

Expect everything from paintings, sculpture and fibre art to textiles, fashion, ceramics and limited-edition prints, alongside a packed public program of artist talks, cultural demonstrations, dance performances, workshops and family-friendly activities. The program shines a light on some of the country’s leading art centres, with artists from centres including Injalak Arts, Hermannsburg Potters, Erub Arts, Waringarri Arts and Yarrenyty Arltere Artists leading masterclasses and demonstrations throughout the weekend.

The celebrations extend across the week, with the National Indigenous Fashion Awards on August 5 and, for the first time, Country to Couture presented across two nights at a new outdoor venue on August 2 and 3.
