Fri 9th August, 2024 – Sun 25th August, 2024
ACMI
Federation Square, Flinders Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
Price: Free entry
Enjoy a pre- or post-movie drink at ACMI’s late-night pop-up lounge (with Skylab Radio DJs), or grab coffee at the casual all-day festival hub.

Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is back from August 8 to 25 with a stacked program of more than 250 features, shorts and XR (extended reality like AR and VR) experiences, as well as one-off retrospectives, events, talks and guest appearances. There are plenty of films to choose from, but some highlights are the Australian premiere of Adam Elliot’s Memoir of a Snail (starring Succession’s Sarah Snook), female-fronted skateboarding doco Queens of Concrete and the world premiere of Charles Williams’s prison drama Inside.

As part of the festival, MIFF’s stylish Campari Cinema Lounge will be returning to ACMI. The Euro-film-glamour-themed bar is the perfect spot to unwind between films (and debrief with fellow festivalgoers). Expect Campari cocktails, Asahi beers, wines from Yering Station and a region-hopping menu from contemporary Asian diner Miss Pearl. Plus, there’s an aperitivo hour from 5pm to 6pm. There’s also a rotating line-up of upcoming and established local DJs – curated by Melbourne station Skylab Radio – playing at the lounge until late each night, including Milo Eastwood, Pjenne and Zjoso.

This year, there’s a second spot to eat and drink during the festival: the new MIFF Festival Hub. This more relaxed all-day site – also at ACMI – will be serving coffee from St Ali; drinks from Yering Station, Asahi and Campari; and food by Miss Pearl. There’ll be special activities such as MIFF Trivia hosted by Alexei Toliopoulos, in-conversation events with filmmakers and more. It’ll smell great, too – thanks to scents and fragrances from Aesop.

The Campari Cinema Lounge and MIFF Festival Hub are walk-in only and don’t require a MIFF ticket for entry.
