Buunyal Tours at Scenic World

Want to explore more of the Blue Mountains? Scenic World’s Buunyal Tours offer the chance to combine two of the region’s essential experiences: the family-owned attraction that’s been operating in Katoomba since 1945, and a one-of-a-kind tour that’ll deepen your understanding of Gundungurra Country.

Led by an Indigenous guide, the Buunyal Tour takes in all of Scenic World’s highlights – such as the world’s steepest railway, cable cars and the rainforest boardwalk – while also giving you the opportunity to learn about the native plants and animals of the ancient, fragile ecosystem of the Blue Mountains, as well as their significance in Indigenous culture and stories (“Buunyal” is the Gundungurra word for “sun”).

The tour, available a few days a week, lasts for roughly two and a half hours and is suitable for both young and old (some walking, including steps, is necessary). A limit of 12 people per tour ensures they’re personalised and interactive. A Buunyal Day Pass ticket for the tour starts at $89 for adults and $53.40 for children (kids under three enter free); the pass also includes unlimited rides on the Scenic Railway, Skyway and Cableway, with plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy this vast attraction after the tour ends.
