Bunnings Sausage Sizzle for Bushfire-Affected Communities
If you're looking for a tangible way to help bushfire-affected communities in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, swing by your local Bunnings on Friday and buy a snag.
From 9am to 4pm, Bunnings stores across Australia will be stacking bread on paper napkins, frying up sausages and onions, wrapping it all up and dousing it in tomato sauce – for a good cause.
Funds raised from sausage-in-bread sales will go to Givit, a national not-for-profit that works closely with charities, community groups and councils to distribute assistance where it's needed most.
More than 250 Australian homes have been destroyed by bushfires in the last week, according to the Rural Fire Service, and the number is set to rise.
Givit will use 100 per cent of the takings to purchase essential items (locally where possible) for regional communities rebuilding after bushfire and those affected by the ongoing drought.
