Various locations across Tasmania
The week-long Off Season celebration of science returns to Hobart this August with an immersive program spanning from its home base at the City Hall.

Beaker Street Festival – now in its eighth year – returns to Hobart from August 6 to 13. Get ready for a week of art- and science-themed events, entertainment, exhibitions and excursions, plus the best of Tasmanian greenery and culture.

Known as Australia’s National Science Week event for adults - Beaker Street Festival features panel events with some of Australia’s brightest minds, off-the-beaten-path adventures with people who know Tassie inside and out, scientist-led dinners, science-based installations, live music, and theatre to feed hungry brain cells.

This year’s program is set to launch mid-May and features the likes of an ice plunge in a buzzing Antarctic outpost, alongside steamy tent saunas and scientist-led breathwork sessions. There’ll be ‘future foods’ across some of Hobart’s favourite venues, a dinner set amongst the stars (featuring guided stargazing) and plenty more. Returning for another year is the packed main-stage program, featuring performances, talks, music, games and panels covering topics from AI to the moon.
