The Australian Chamber Orchestra Presents 'Music for Healing'
Led by Artistic Director Richard Tognetti and master guitarist Slava Grigoryan, this unique performance by the Australian Chamber Orchestra explores the meditative nature of music and how it can “heighten our awareness, invigorate our senses and reveal the truth of our feelings.”
Featuring a range of suites spanning the work of Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, Australian composer and cellist Iain Grandage, Czech composer Pavel Haas and UK prog-rock titans Pink Floyd, Music for Healing’s remit is vast.
Vasks’ Vox amoris journey’s through love and human expression, Grandage’s Black Dogs confronts uncertainty and darkness, before building into an almost funk-like affirmation of survival. It features guitarist Slava Grigoryan who will also perform Asturias by Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Albéniz, in a special arrangement for guitar and string orchestra, before Pink Floyd’s Shine On You Crazy Diamond – the band’s epic 1975 ode to troubled ex-member Syd Barrett – evokes the delicate balance of light and dark.
Works from US composer Morton Feldman and Icelandic composer Anna Thorvadsdottir will also feature.
Touring through August and Sepetember, these performances feature Richard Tognetti (Artistic Director and Lead Violin), Slava Grigoryan (guitar) and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
