A new 30 to 40 minute lesson drops each week, and the classes are taught by a former company dancer.

If you’re currently indulging in some pandemic-related comfort eating (nothing wrong with that, I’m right there snacking beside you), you’ve probably noticed that staying fit in confinement is pretty tricky. If celebrity-guided workouts aren’t your thing and conventional exercise such as Pilates is too vanilla, then maybe a bit of dancing is in order.

The Australian Ballet has launched a series of free online ballet classes for all ages and experience levels. The program runs for three weeks (the first lesson dropped on April 9), with three new classes released every week. It’s taught by Justine Miles, who use to dance with the company.

“Ballet is a wonderful way of staying fit,” said Artistic Director David McAllister in a media release. “It’s never too late to start your ballet journey, and this is a perfect opportunity for anyone who has considered it but never taken the leap (or jeté).”

You may not be able to go to bars at the moment, but at least you can get to know this kind of barre (or a dining room chair, more likely).
