If lockdown has turned you into a budding podcast maker, here’s a way to sharpen up your audio-making skills without leaving the house. Audiocraft Podcast Festival is back – online – for a fifth round of inspiring talks from industry experts.
Leading this year’s program is Matt Lieber, Spotify’s head of podcasts and co-founder of narrative podcasting company Gimlet, who will chat about the state of the audio space and how creatives can thrive in it; and Aussie-born science journalist Wendy Zukerman – and host of Science Vs – who will speak to the challenges of covering Covid-19.
You’ll also hear from Kathy Tu and Tobin Low, co-hosts of critically acclaimed WNYC podcast Nancy, on their podcasting process and how queer stories thrive in audio form; and the creators of BBC thriller Forest 404 on the power of audio fiction as a less-common storytelling medium.
There’ll also be a live pitch session where attendees can bounce their podcast ideas off Spotify’s Australian podcast team. Three short-listed applicants will get to pitch their concept live to the Audiocraft audience.
