Artbid Auction

Tapping into the urgency and excitement of auctions, the team behind Artbid hosts online sales featuring works created exclusively for the platform by emerging and independent artists.

Its latest digital event is a curated timed auction titled Portraits: An Ode to the Archibald. Inspired by this year’s Archibald exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW, it showcases contemporary portraiture from more than 40 Australian artists, blending rising names with established talent.

Price guides are listed in the online catalogue , with estimates for this auction’s lots ranging from $450 to $6600. A 12 per cent buyer’s premium is added to the final sale price – lower than the standard 20–25 per cent charged by traditional auction houses.

All artworks are “ready to hang” – depending on the piece, that could mean framed or stretched canvas. Full details are available in the catalogue. Delivery is free to most Australian addresses, regardless of size or weight (some regional and remote areas may incur a fee, with quotes available ahead of time).

Register for an account to place a bid on any of the 85 works. The auction is open now and closes at 8pm on Thursday, August 7.
