ABC Radio National’s Big Weekend of Books

Sat 20th June, 2020 – Sun 21st June, 2020
An entire weekend dedicated to conversations about reading and writing, with some of the world’s best – including English writer Hilary Mantel, Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan, and Australia’s Christos Tsiolkas, Bruce Pascoe and Trent Dalton.

On June 20 and 21, ABC Radio National is hosting some of the world’s best writers for its first Big Weekend of Books.

Highlights include in-conversations with English author Hilary Mantel (Wolf Hall, Bring Up the Bodies), renowned Australian author Christos Tsiolkas (The Slap, Barracuda), and American author Deborah Feldman, whose memoir inspired the Netflix hit Unorthodox, as well as Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan, and Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert.

Also hear from Bruce Pascoe, author of Dark Emu, which challenges the hunter-gatherer conception of pre-colonial Aboriginal life and instead points to evidence of farming; and Trent Dalton, journalist for The Weekend Australian Magazine, who entered the realm of fiction with Boy Swallows Universe, a thrilling story that takes place in the underbelly of 1980s Brisbane.

From 10am Saturday to 5pm Sunday AEST.
