Tender, loving, chardonnay. It’s an old favourite that maybe doesn’t get the same attention it once enjoyed, but nonetheless has a nostalgic following. This is much like the band TLC, who will be gracing Australian wineries in February at R’n’B Vine Days, an off-shoot of the R’n’B Fridays Live concert series.
Now you can pair that classic varietal with the lobster tail of female R’n’B groups. If you’re planning a scenic road trip on the way to the winery don’t go chasing any waterfalls. It’s the end of summer, they’ll be no more than a trickle. Also, avoid hollering at others out of your best friend’s ride. Organisers are hoping to keep a scrubless vibe among the vines.
Wineries tend to be a bit of a drive from the city centre, but luckily at the end of the road, there’ll be a set from Boyz II Men (aka Men II Older Men). Their soaring harmonies will hold you tight all through the night.
Shaggy will also be there to let you know how much he likes being "touched in the back." Don’t get too bombastic on the picnic rug, though, these are all-ages shows. If you get too involved in the chardy pardy and lose your car keys just take the Jamaican singer’s advice and go with the classic excuse: “it wasn’t me.”
Update: Shaggy has cancelled his appearances due to a scheduling conflict. Blackstreet will replace him at all shows.
