Splendour in the Grass dropped a whopper of a line-up last week, and now a stellar line-up has been announced for a series of sideshows around the country.

Math-rock giants Foals will be digging hits out of their enviable catalogue with nights in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, where they’ll be supported by hypnotic indie rockers Warpaint.

Catfish and the Bottlemen will be bringing their brand of indie stadium rock to those three cities too, playing songs from their new album The Balance, which is due out this month.

Digital manipulator James Blake will bring his ethereal vocals to Melbourne and Sydney, pulling from his new album Assume Form, on which he collaborated with friends such as André 3000, Bon Iver and RZA. Let’s hope he brings some guests along.

Iconic UK MC the Streets – known for his evocative storytelling – will play shows in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. (Local heroes the Avalanches will support him with a DJ set in Melbourne.) The effervescent Friendly Fires are adding one night in Melbourne and one night in Sydney, while the trashy skate-punk band FIDLAR will tour Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney.

Electronic artists Maribou State – who’ve remixed Lana Del Rey and Alpines – will play the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne’s Forum. Also performing at those venues, in a similar musical vein, is the slow-burning electronic songwriter and producer Tycho.

Los Angeles indie-rock quintet Local Natives will bring the sound of their city to Sydney and Melbourne. UK artist Sam Fender, hot off the heels of his 2019 Brit Award, is also slated for shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

Lush electronic music from HONNE, heartfelt soul from Jacob Banks, jangly ’60s rock from northern California outfit the Nude Party, power-pop from Brooklyn’s Charly Bliss, soulful R&B from Phony PPL and synth-laden nostalgia from the Midnight will also all be part of the Splendour in the Grass sideshow blitz in Melbourne and Sydney.

Splendour in the Grass sideshows will take place from July 12 to 28. Dates and tickets can be found here.
