Heavy metal titans Metallica have just announced a national tour. It will be the band's first headline stadium tour and first time playing in Australia since 2013.

Metallica is currently on its WorldWired Tour – it's played more than 130 shows since the tour began in 2016.

Despite the hilarious inter-band bickering, raging egos, Lars Ulrich's drumming and Lulu, the album the band made with Lou Reed (that is either an avant-garde masterpiece or the worst album ever recorded) – it's hard to deny the raw power of classics like Enter Sandman, Seek & Destroy and For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Each ticket purchased comes with a copy of the band’s newest album, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.

The band will be supported by masked loose units Slipknot.

Saddle up and Ride the Lightning when Metallica tours Australia in October.

General tickets go on sale Monday, March 18 at 3pm in Sydney and 2pm (local time) in all other cities. Tickets and pre-sale information here.
