Finals weekend is the pointy end of the tournament, but it’s serving more than just tennis. In partnership with the Australian Open, we’ve got your guide to Finals Festival weekend, including celebrity doubles matches on the Friday and musical performances from artists like Vanessa Amorosi, BENEE, Flight Facilities, and more over the three days

Few things feel more like summer than Australian Open season. From January 16 to 29, the biggest names in tennis converge in Melbourne to fight it out for one of the sport’s biggest prizes. While the top seeds will naturally grab plenty of headlines, they’re not the only stars you’ll want to catch.

As the AO reaches its exciting climax, Finals Festival is packing the biggest musical names into the closing weekend (Friday 27 to Sunday 29 January). On Friday, the Celebrity Showdown match pits two teams of five celebrities (two former pros, two big names and a legendary captain) against each other, with all prize money going to an LGBTIQ+ charity of the winner’s choice. Also on Friday is the Glam Slam, taking place at Kia Arena from 1pm. Presented by Ralph Lauren, MC Brihony Dawson will introduce performances from art-pop star Montaigne and legendary singer Vanessa Amorosi between bouts of celebrity doubles.

On Saturday, the music takes centrestage at Kia Arena, with a massive line-up featuring live sets from New Zealand alt-pop artist BENEE, singer-songwriter Thelma Plum and Sydney six-piece Winston Surfshirt, while the party continues on Sunday with electronic legends Flight Facilities alongside electro-pop duo Lastlings and rising star Forest Claudette. After each show, you can stick around and watch the biggest AO matches play out on screens across Grand Slam Oval.

Between the tunes, there’s plenty being served throughout the Open’s precincts. You’ll find some of Melbourne’s best restaurants, with a pop-up version of Rockpool Bar and Grill, al fresco dining from Supernormal (including its famous lobster roll), and a chance to experience Maha while watching the action from Rod Laver Arena’s Superbox. You’ll also want to grab a spritz at the AO Beach Bar, a resort-style reimagining of last year’s sandy AO Beach House that features a pop-up of cocktail bar The Everleigh. For those looking to emulate their on-court heroes, there’s the AO Tennis Club, where you can try your hand at augmented reality tennis, table tennis, cardio tennis and more.

Finals Festival Ground Passes are now available to purchase for $34. If you’ve already purchased tickets, there’s also the option to upgrade your ticket for just $5.
