Last year Mona Foma decamped from Hobart for its inaugural Launceston edition. It’s heading there again in 2020 – this time headlined by acclaimed electronic musician Flying Lotus.

The Los Angeles-based producer will bring his Flying Lotus 3D show that uses 3D screen technology and 3D glasses in its psychedelic audio-visual performance. Flying Lotus has collaborated with musical luminaries the world over such as Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Herbie Hancock. He will perform at this year’s festival hub and entry is included in a festival pass.

Also announced today for the Mona Foma 2020 program is renowned classical pianist Ludovico Einaudi – the closest thing to a superstar you’ll find in the rarefied world of modern classical music. Know for his cinematic style, Einaudi will perform Seven Days Walking, an new seven-part cycle inspired by winter walks in the Alps. Einaudi will perform a standalone performance at the Princess Theatre.

Mona Foma takes place from January 11 to 20, 2020. There are currently limited early bird festival passes on sale. The full Mona Foma line-up will be released on Friday October 18. Tickets go on sale Monday October 21.
