Singer-songwriter-musician Alanis Morissette will perform two extra Australian shows, one in Sydney and Melbourne, after announcing earlier this month a 25th anniversary tour of her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill at this year's Blues Festival.
Like her festival show, she will perform songs off Jagged Little Pill – bangers such as Ironic, You Oughta Know and Hand in My Pocket. The album was hailed for its fascinating and feminist portrayal of female rage and emotion upon its release in 1995. It has sold more than 33 million copies and was nominated for nine Grammy Awards and won five, including Album of the Year.
She hasn't been idle since the '90s. Last year, a musical version of the award-wining album debuted on New York's Broadway, and in 2016 Morissette began the monthly podcast Conversation With Alanis Morissette, which sees her interview authors, doctors, educators and therapists, and covers a broad range of topics, including spirituality, developmentalism and art.
Alanis Morrisette plays Qudos Bank Arena Arena in Sydney on Saturday April 11 and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday April 15. Tickets are on sale at 10am Friday February 7.
