Win: A Melbourne Getaway With Flights, a Hotel Suite and NGV Tickets
The NGV’s major international exhibition Westwood | Kawakubo brings together two of fashion’s most influential disruptors, and we’re giving one lucky Broadsheet reader (and their plus one) a chance to experience it in style.
Pairing the work of British punk pioneer Vivienne Westwood and avant-garde Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo (of Comme des Garcons), the exhibition traces how both designers emerged in the 1970s to challenge rigid ideas of style, beauty and power. Though working worlds apart, each rejected the contemporary rules of fashion, using cut, form and provocation to radically rethink the relationship between body and garment. From Westwood’s punk-inflected corsetry and subversive tailoring to Kawakubo’s sculptural, abstract “objects for the body”, the show places more than 140 works in dialogue. The result reveals shared sensibilities, contrasting philosophies and an enduring impact on how we dress today.
To celebrate, we’ve teamed up with the NGV to offer a prize that turns a gallery visit into a full Melbourne minibreak. The winner and their lucky guest will receive:
- Two tickets to the Westwood | Kawakubo exhibition
- Two return flights to Melbourne from your nearest capital city (if you’re interstate)
- Lunch for two at the NGV Garden Restaurant (valued at $250)
- One night in a King Suite at Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street
- Two Westwood | Kawakubo exhibition publications.
Maybe you’re a lifelong fashion obsessive, or maybe you just love a culturally packed getaway. Either way, this is your chance to experience one of the most important fashion exhibitions of the decade – then toast it all over lunch and a luxe stay in Australia’s cultural capital.
The winner of this competition is A.B
