Stylist Xanthe Wetzler lives in an Art Deco apartment with pastel pink trimmings in one of Sydney’s most vibrant strips. Macleay Street in Potts Point is lined with trees and restaurants, and you can always meet a cute dog there on Saturday mornings at the markets.
Wetzler has assisted Australia’s top international stylists (including Michelle Jank, Rachel Wayman and Kelly Hume), working for various Australian fashion week shows (including Macgraw this year and We Are Kindred), and English singer-songwriter Sam Smith.
Name: Xanthe Wetzler
Lives: In an apartment in Potts Point
With who: My boyfriend Bobby
Have you made any changes since you moved in?
We ripped up the carpet and restored the original floorboards, did a mini reno inside and a full landscape on the deck.
Favourite room in the house?
Definitely the gazebo on the deck. It's big and comfy enough to work from and also just lay around and chill on weekends. It's also a nice feeling to be right above the hustle and bustle of Macleay Street (sometimes we look over to see how busy Fratelli Paradiso is to determine a good time to head over).
Favourite item in the house?
I love our Polaboy light box. It's a Polaroid that Bobby took in New York on our first trip together which we had blown up and backlit. Also, we just hung some Daimon Downey paintings that he's given us as gifts. I think personal touches like these – ones that have meaning – really make a home.
Favourite homewares stores?
Vela Living: a new design store in Woollahra. Beautiful, modern and some one-off pieces designed specifically for Vela.
MCM House: lots of pieces that are super accessible and look good in so many spaces.
Home Visits is a new Broadsheet series exploring homes across Australia.
