You’ll find London Bridge Lookout right at the border of Point Nepean National Park. Just head down the main path as soon you’ve found a spot in the tucked-away car park.

There are a couple of lookouts on the trail. The first overlooks Sierra Nevada rocks and the London Bridge – an iconic Portsea rock formation that gets its name from its arched shape. Low tide reveals a vast expanse of glittery turquoise rockpools under and around London Bridge. (They’re a popular swimming spot in summer, especially for kids.)

From here, follow the boardwalk to the south-east-facing lookout. You might catch some paragliders launching off the pad or zipping around overhead.

If you’re still keen to explore, there are a few other walking track options from the car park.

Head north for the Wilsons Folly walking track, which guides you three kilometres inland through the national park towards Quarantine Station. It’s a one-way route, so be sure to factor in your return trip. To visit the beach, take the steps down to the sand (you can get an up-close perspective of the arch remains, caves and portal ocean views). Or if you’ve packed your bathers, jump in for a splash in the waves or dip in the rockpools.

Swim between the flags at patrolled beaches wherever possible. Weather conditions along the coast of the Mornington Peninsula can change suddenly. Rough surf, submerged obstacles and strong currents are all hazards to be wary of. For a safer swim where there are lifeguards, walk along the beach for about 500 metres to Portsea Back Beach and the Surf Life Saving Club.

Another picturesque walk is atop the dunes and cliffs along the Farnsworth Track. Take in spectacular views around a winding path with many benches and pit stops to take in the sights and salty sea breeze along the way.
