A return ferry ticket between Queenscliff and Sorrento usually costs $160 for a driver, passenger and vehicle – making a trip across the bay relatively exxy.
But, on Friday June 10, Searoad Ferries is launching an online lottery offering 220 $20 tickets over a 10-week period.
Searoad Ferries CEO Matt McDonald said the move was inspired by Melbourne’s popular theatre lotteries, which provide discounted tickets to the city’s best shows.
The lottery opens every Friday during winter and winners will be drawn – at random – the following Thursday. Twenty-one return tickets are up for grabs each week, and if you’re successful, just contact the customer-service team to claim the discount.
