A trusty country pub with upscaled dining, The Terminus is a longtime anchor of Yarrawonga’s central Belmore Street. While the two-storey gem dates all the way back to 1882, it was lovingly refurbished in 2020 by new owner Scott McGregor – a longtime cast member of Neighbours who grew up an hour away in Albury.

A modern makeover sees the window-flanked dining room decked out with comfy turquoise booths, while the rustic beer garden and street-side balcony bar retain much of their original charm.

Overseen by head chef Dameon Holmes, the gastropub-style menu has swathes of Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern influence. Seasonal small plates might include dukkah-charred cauliflower, beef bao buns, and prawn and ginger dumplings. For mains, Dukkah-crusted salmon, and cauliflower and chickpea curry continue the theme. There’s also rock-solid pub classics such as burgers and parmas (both are likely to feature as a weeknight special), and meat lovers will relish slow-cooked lamb shoulder or twice-cooked pork belly, sitting snugly alongside steak cuts from the grill.

As a spacious spot to unwind, The Terminus ticks all the boxes, from craft beer and cocktails to pool tables and regular live music. Expect a natural balance of mellow country vibes and inner-city refinement.
