Features
Formerly a candy bar, The Sun Bookshop resides in The Sun Theatre building and shares its old-world charm. It’s everything a bookshop should be – quiet and cosy, with shelves packed with thoughtfully curated titles. Manager and owner Deb Force (who opened the shop in 1998) knows how to pick a page-turner, and is particularly partial to a good Aussie author.
It’s got your coffee and kitchen tables covered with a handsome collection of art, photography, craft and cooking books, and The Younger Sun, a kids bookstore under the same ownership, is just across the road for the little ones. Staff recommendations and published reviews are scrawled and pinned around, and the folk behind the counter are always good for advice.
The Sun’s book launches, events and monthly book club meets are open to the public, and you can bag whichever title they’re tucking into that month for 10 per cent off.
