Features
Situated right in the middle of Yarraville’s train and bus stations and taxi rank, Dad and Dave’s is the most accessible choice for a pre-work coffee or a bite to eat during the inevitable wait.
Previously a milk bar, it’s a small space but owner Russell Karim makes it work. The furnishings are homely; the timber tabletops are adorned with native flowers and the seating is delightfully mismatched.
It’s much preferable to sitting at the bus or train station, but they’re not limiting their clientele to commuters. They also have you covered when it comes to the lazy weekends, with plenty of outdoor seating.
Karim found a distinct lack of diversity when it came to vegan meals in Yarraville. As such there’s a rotation of vegan baked goods – all made in-house – and the menu features meals such as chia pudding with berry zest, mixed seeds and pistachio; and dukkah poached eggs with avocado and grilled tomato.
Most options can also be made vegan. There’s a range of smoothies and pressed juices to complement.
