Cherry Hill Orchards is one of Australia’s largest cherry growers. And each year, in cherry-picking season – which runs from the end of November through to January – it becomes one of the Yarra Valley’s most-popular attractions. Because in addition to selling cherries online and at its on-site shop, Cherry Hill also lets you pick your own cherries (trust us, it’s more fun than it sounds).

Spend your two-and-a-half hour picking sessions flitting around the orchards and admiring the Yarra Valley views and, of course, picking as many cherries as you can find. Word for the wise: eat as many cherries as you can for free during your session – if you want to take what you pick home, you’ll have to pay for it.

After your session, settle in for a coffee and some cherry ice-cream at the cafe. In summer there are live performances and special one-off events.
