Green Cup is a health-focused cafe serving up velvety acai bowls, vibrant smoothies and toasties. It all started in 2012 when co-owner Natalie Guest became obsessed with green smoothies. She started drinking them most days before she and husband Simon opened their first brick-and-mortar in South Yarra in 2014. It was such a hit that the pair opened smoothie hubs in Armadale, Hawthorn, Carlton, Caulfield and the CBD.

At the South Yarra shop, the menu stays true to the cafe’s origins with plenty of green and superfood smoothies. At a quick glance it can be confusing to tell the difference (a lot of them feature kale, spinach, chia, almond milk), but there are some nice mixes and the staff will help you with what you’re after (if you’re feeling rundown, or if you want a satisfying blend that will fill you up). The big kahuna is the Green Cup – a mega blend of all the good stuff.

There are also acai bowls, which are a combo of blended frozen and acai berry and banana. You can go for one of Green Cup’s combos or build your own bowl by adding fresh fruits, nut butters, granola, nuts, seeds, coconut yoghurt and more.

As for snacks, you can pick up a selection of house-made bliss balls, raw energy bars and slices. There’s also single-serve toast that can be topped with avo and chilli; or avo, tomato and dukkah – all good options for a light snack.
