Features
Founded in 2017, Baker Bleu has grown from a single store to one of Melbourne’s most beloved sourdough bakeries. The brand now has five bustling locations and is a fixture on many Melbourne restaurant menus. Baker Bleu is adored for its sourdough offerings, including its famous loaves, country wheel rolls, cinnamon scrolls, and crusty ficelles.
The South Yarra outpost is just across from the Royal Botanic Gardens’ Southern Lawn in the former Baker D Chirico pop-up space. Taking note of its leisurely surroundings, this store is takeaway only and the first Baker Bleu location to dole out soft serve.
Its opening was marked by a Backyard Honey soft serve topped with sea salt, olive oil and caramelised croissant crumbs, but flavours change frequently. Soft serve acts as a perfect vessel for bakery products like cookie crumbs and croissant flakes, inviting creativity.
Also on offer for passers-by to pick up and enjoy at the park are the bakery’s popular sourdough pizzas, fresh sandwiches assembled on-site, and even curated picnic sets.
