Giddiup is another venture from the crew behind Richmond’s Amsterdam Street Cafe (now closed).

The focus here is on fresh food, fast. It’s a place where hordes of busy workers can duck in and grab-to-go without the wait. The menu is designed around simple, high quality food; pulled-pork sandwich with jalapeno relish, bagels from 5 & Dime and salads that change daily.

Monday to Friday the menu consists of sandwiches and salads as well as breakfast dishes served until 11am. On the weekend these are replaced by an all-day breakfast menu including poached eggs and Bircher muesli.

Everything from the Tuscan vegetable and bread soup to the smoked salmon and avocado is made in the cafe’s compact kitchen. Coffee is Sydney’s Single Origin Roasters’ Yeehah blend and it’s smooth and strong.

If the sun is shining you can eat lunch in the outdoor seating area. Eating in is an option made all the more attractive due to the minimal-meets-industrial aesthetic created with bare floors, huge windows, built-in bench seating and milk crate tables. There’s also a side door that leads directly into Vincent 2, so after lunch you can browse Swedish homewares and furniture.
