Nique is an accessible clothing label for creative professionals, or anyone who subscribes to Melbourne’s monochrome aesthetic. Founders Nick and Lucy Ennis, along with their design team of six, produce contemporary pieces for men and women.
It makes sense that Nique began its life as a graphic design agency in 1998. In 2003 it made the full transition into a fashion label, wholesaling for a number of years before opening its first boutique in 2008.
The main line covers the key pieces that work in an office – fluid shirting, blouses, pants and blazers, plus separates that easily transition to after hours. There’s a crisp Scandinavian edge to Nique’s designs that instantly makes wearers look a cut above, even if they’re only wearing black trousers and a white T-shirt.
In addition to the main line, there’s a dedicated denim collection with core styles and seasonal updates in new fabrics. And White Label: Nique’s line of premium basics such as T-shirts and hoodies.
Fabrics here lean towards the premium end. Expect rayon, bamboo, linen, silk, cotton and wool. A colour palette of black, white and grey is the norm, but in 2017 the team injected pink into the mix and promises there’s a few more colours to come.
A minimal unisex footwear line includes affordable leather sneakers in black or white.
