Janette and Leah Muddle have run Milly Sleeping since 2005. The mother and daughter team has supported local labels since the beginning, stocking names such as Kuwaii, Livia Arena and Romance Was Born in the early days and growing alongside them.
The buying focuses on easy, soft daywear, with unusual detailing or prints. The Muddles have a keen eye for picking emerging designers. As such, there’s a rotating selection of young labels on offer next to the more established local heroes.
Names include the painterly, textile-based Mirador; Lois Hazel, whose cotton/linen pieces and commitment to manufacturing transparency have made waves; and the feminine, weekend-ready Penny Sage.
Millicent is the boutique’s range of secondhand items. There’s a spread of international and classic Australian brands in the mix here, most priced under $100.
You can also find a regularly updated range of jewellery, accessories and gifts from local makers. Keep an eye out for exhibitions that pop up in store, too.
