This tiny store and salon is a welcome burst of colour and fun, just off the northern stretch of Nicholson Street in Brunswick East.

The creation of friends Sarah Isaac and Sarah Withers, Lucky Buster combines Isaac’s eye for gorgeous, quirky goods honed during her years with Nom*D and Withers’ unique hairdressing talents.

Sandwiched between Cecilia Fox Floral Studio and New Day Rising, and metres from Milkwood cafe, Lucky Buster’s petite size ensures everything on offer is carefully considered.

Withers’ chair and salon equipment and supplies (including 98 per cent natural dye) is set up to the right, and to the left you’ll find Isaac’s finely-tuned selection of goods, including designer and second-hand clothing, Bedrock Bones polymer accessories, Wintercheck Factory caps, Lazy Oaf socks and crocheted vases by Crayon Chick.

There are also hand-painted masks by Kate Roebuck and children’s toys by Kalimba for the little ones (or perhaps a nudge to get visitors to embrace their inner child).

Book ahead if you want a cut – the salon is popular.

Lucky Buster is open late at night by appointment from Wednesday to Saturday.
