Huset
Features
There comes a time when one needs to stop relying on IKEA for Scandinavian-style furniture. That’s where Huset comes in. Huset means “house” in Danish. But in Melbourne’s southeast, it’s a warehouse specialising in European furniture.
The average furniture shopper might not be fussed whether that Le Corbusier chair is real or fake. Huset’s owner, Ryan Parnham, thinks they should be. His business only supports original designs, predominantly from Scandinavian countries.
Products by TON, Muuto and Normann Copenhagen are among Huset’s best-sellers. Hand-blown glass lights designed by Czech brand Brokis are also prized assets.
The Europeans shouldn’t have all the glory, though. Huset also produces its own range of Australian-made sofas and dining tables. Vibrant artwork created by local artist Marinka Plovanic is also available for purchase.
The best part? Everything is in stock, meaning you don’t have to wait 20 weeks for one Swedish barstool.
Huset has also scored itself a retailer spot in The Block Shop, but fame hasn’t gone to its head. The store’s refined taste and dedication to quality products remains constant.
