The simple desire to be part of a business that makes people happy – that’s what prompted Amy and Nam Tran to buy this decade-old Northcote bottle shop in August 2017. The area’s stiff competition is a boon for the customer, as the husband-and-wife team stock well-priced staples, as well as harder to find vinous treats.
Wander the information-rich fridges or hit up the experienced staff for suggestions to BYO to one of the many eateries nearby. Whether it’s a textural Balkan white or an earthy red from Western Australia, Harvest Wine & Liquor stocks bottles that punch above their weight. Organic and vegan bottles figure strongly. There are also plenty of local beers.
Don’t be fooled by the plain facade – like a dusty, cellar-aged bottle of wine, it belies the goodness that’s inside.
