When you think of Dinosaur Designs, you think of iconic, fluid shapes and splashes of bold colour.

After selling jewellery at Paddington Markets as art students in 1985, co-founders Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy have come a long way. They worked from a humble studio in Sydney and over time spread to Melbourne, Brisbane, New York and London. While working predominantly with the one material it is best known for – resin – for such a long period of time may sound limiting, Dinosaur Designs has managed to reinvent its medium time and time again.

"When we first started there was a rawness and boldness to using resin and that really excited and surprised people," says co-owner Olsen. "We've worked with resin for so many years but we've become much more refined and understand our materials so much more."

Flipping its expected palette of striking, primary colours to complete a monochrome series, and slowly introducing bronze, brass and silver pieces are just a couple of ways the label continues to surprises with its collections. The brand has also continued to add its unique, organic aesthetic to its extension into homewares and lifestyle pieces.

Dinosaur Designs never fails to deliver a unique experience, and with stores continuing to sprout both nationwide and overseas, its mark on the Australian design landscape remains ever relevant.
