Diamond Dog Vintage
Despite being one of the longest-standing and original vintage shops in Melbourne, Diamond Dog Vintage lies in the relatively quiet western pocket of Seddon.
On first sight it may feel all too familiar; the cliche salvaged mannequin stands, battered trunks and industrial shelving units all make obvious appearances. However, like the clothes, each collected trinket or sepia-tinged photograph arrives on the shelves via hand-selection rather than the generic wholesale bag.
Unsurprisingly then, clothes hang in their original state, free from elasticised waistbands or shortened hemlines. It's a preference the owner likes to reinforce, however minor adjustments to the fit can be happily arranged by a local seamstress who comes by the store once a week.
Providing a level of service more in line with the eras of the clothes it represents, this corner street store is charming in its attention to detail and crammed with nostalgic curiosities to help you relive past times.
