Beyond the spectacular limestone formations themselves, the best reason to see the 12 Apostles is the potluck of artisan produce you’ll find in the surrounding hinterlands.

Some of those cheesemakers, chocolatiers, booze-smiths and farmers have banded together to create the 12 Apostles Artisan Food Trail, a guide to eating, drinking and experiencing the finer things this cold-climate dairy region has to offer. It ropes in the likes of sweet treats from Timboon Fine Ice cream, Dairylicious Farm Fudge and Gorge Chocolates, cheese from Schulz Organic Dairy, gnocchi from Forage Artisan Gnocchi, microbrews from Sow and Piglets Brewery in Port Campbell and much more.

You can do the trail in a day, but it’s best to stay in one of the Timboon’s outstanding accommodations.
