In Swahili, Saazaa means “time for”. At David Juma’s Ringwood roastery and cafe, it’s time for a wide range of specialty brews made with house-roasted beans.
Most beans come from Juma’s family farm in Kenya, or are directly sourced from producers in Ethiopia, Guatemala, Colombia and El Salvador, before being roasted on-site in small batches at Saazaa’s warehouse space.
Sit in the front cafe or head inside to grab one of eight seats at the espresso bar, where you can explore different beans and blends with a front-row view of the roasting action. Try a long black using Kenyan beans with notes of toffee and cherry. Nusu is a Kenyan and El Salvador blend with an Amaretto-leaning profile. Go for drip coffee made with a Burundi single-origin, or compare a few different brews as part of a coffee-tasting flight.
There are also seasonal specials including the cold Nairobi Tonic and the Hazelnut Dream, a velvety mix of Saazaa’s sweet Sukari blend, vanilla and toasted sesame. Plus, find a selection of sangas and pastries on hand.
