Ziggy’s

Ziggy’s is your all-round burger joint, salad bar and wrap station, and a local favourite in Balaclava.

Bright and compact on the inside, and with communal seating on the footpath out front, Ziggy’s on Carlisle Street is where fresh meets fast and portion sizes completely outstrip the prices.

The menu spans the Middle East to Mexico, with a range of toppings from sauerkraut to Vietnamese coleslaw.

The classic beef burger comes in two sizes, 125 grams or 250 grams and is served on a seeded brioche bun, topped with either the German mustard-gherkin spread or with the homemade smoked-cheese sauce.

For something heartier, try the Zed Steak Burger, a grilled Scotch fillet with aioli and Ziggy’s barbeque sauce, or take note of the specials board and attempt the Recovery Burger, which includes double beef, double bacon, double cheese and Texan sauce.

Salads are also served large with a generous drop of dressing and topped with grilled meat or vegetarian “Foollafel” fritters. Warm, fluffy wraps come filled and folded and Ziggy’s wings are a side option of sticky proportions. Cold beer is also available for those wanting max relax.
