A failed quest to find quality Buffalo wings outside of a bar setting led Steven Lo to pack in his IT job and open Wings of Glory in 2015.

The simple but functional fit-out takes up a smallish space on the Clarendon Street strip. There's AstroTurf underfoot, wall-mounted planter boxes and bright-yellow-and-black stools. But the real point of interest here is the wings.

Choose your combo (four to 10 pieces, or in a wrap), your wings (“original glory wings”; boneless; or seitan vegetarian), and then a flavour (a mild-to-hot vinegar-based sauce; spiced Cajun; a sweeter honey glaze; chilli mango; smoky barbeque or the lemony-pepper dry rub for non-traditionalists).

Combos include a choice of salad (cous cous, green, brown rice) or chips with a seasoning of your choice, and are completed by adding a dip (ranch, blue cheese or honey-mustard).

Moorabbin’s 2 Brothers brews sit beside a selection of ciders, and there’s Glorious Beer on tap. Thirstier patrons can get a beer bucket stocked with five basic beers.

Dessert is a toasted, brioche-style mini hot-dog bun stuffed with vanilla ice-cream and your choice of crushed Oreo, honeycomb or strawberry, topped with flavoured syrup.

On Wing It Wednesdays, wings are just $1 each at dinnertime.
