Taxi Kitchen
5:00pm - 11:00pm
Once the fine-dining cornerstone of Fed Square, in 2014, Taxi Dining Room shed the emphasis that made its name, and reopened as the more casual Taxi Kitchen.
The space still has one of the finest views in Melbourne – an almost 360-degree view of the city, but with a strong move towards more accessible pricing, it costs a little less to enjoy it. Aiming for a younger dining market, Taxi Kitchen is faster and fresher, aiming broadly at everyone that comes through the CBD hub, from tourists, casual diners and spill-over from the other venues in Fed Square.
The menu is made up of European-based Australian dishes, but expect the odd outlier, such as the candied pork with coconut and red chilli dressing, or the “Classic” Szechuan duck with Vietnamese mint. Dishes are categories in S, M or L and sharing is clearly recommended. There is also a chef’s tasting menu available. The wine-list is concise but thoughtfully selected and you’re sure to find something appropriate while you relax and enjoy the view.
