Saltwater is right on the Newhaven Jetty. There’s always people fishing off the jetty, trying to bring in a catch. You can spy them from most of the tables in Saltwater’s dining room. No wonder it’s all about seafood here.

There’s a relaxed vibe at Saltwater, which makes it an ideal spot for a group – whether you’re coming as a family, or if you’re with a few friends looking to settle in for an afternoon session. The eight beer taps focus on local brews, including Phillip Island’s own Ocean Reach and Two Bays Brewing from Dromana. Saltwater also brews its own beer; you can choose between a crisp lager or a refreshing pilsner.

The lunch and dinner menus revolve around pizza from the wood-fired oven. Toppings are classic, and involve all of the usual suspects (the pear and prosciutto pizza is a bestseller, though). On the snackier side, salt and pepper squid is a no-brainer; the fish tacos and the chilli mussels are also crowd favourites.

That pizza oven keeps Saltwater nice and cosy in the winter months; in summer, it’s all about the outdoor deck upstairs (just don’t feed the opportunistic seagulls).
