Boasting bay views, a fresh menu and a cool setting, Morgan’s is a seaside bistro and bar that’s open for lunch and dinner towards the pointy end of the week – around about the time you’re plotting an escape from the city and some salty sea air.

The seaside vibe is carried throughout the restaurant, from the white and bright décor to chef Paul Wilson’s menu. For summer 2023, Wilson is transforming the kitchen into a Mexi-Cali pop-up that’s perfect with an ice-cold Margarita or Corona. Start with selections from the guacamole bar, then onto tacos made with nixtamalised corn tortillas from Melbourne’s La Tortilleria. There’s LA-style fish, and a Puebla-style bone marrow with cheek, tongue and brisket inspired by Wilson’s old friend Anthony Bourdain. For dessert, it’s tequila and coffee flan, sweetcorn ice-cream and pop corn sundae, or churros tacos with salted caramel.

Wilson champions Peninsula produce wherever possible, including heirloom tomatoes from Daniel’s Run Farm in Tyabb, and chilli and corn from Hawkes Farm in Boneo, and plenty of herbs grown on-site. Key Mexican ingredients come from Poblano Mexican foods.

Sit next to the Endless Summer poster inside the large space, or if it’s not too hot, grab an outside table on the Esplanade and watch the Sorrento-to-Queenscliff ferry leave port. With miniature tables for the little ones and ample outdoor seating for the sun seekers, Morgan’s is a place to eat and drink away a summer’s afternoon in Sorrento.
